Choice.

Tonight I have to give the spiritual thought at my ward prayer and as I was thinking about what to say, I realized that there are only around seven Sundays left with this Singles ward of mine! Such a crazy thought.

Anyway, because of this such minimal time I have left with them, I thought it would be an appropriate thought to focus on happiness. Usually people do some deep doctrine, but I like to keep it simple and what is more simple than happiness?

In the scriptures, we are taught that "Men are, that they might have joy." How cool is it that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us so much that He provided a plan so that we can be happy?! In fact, I like to call the Plan of Salvation by its other name - the Plan of Happiness. There is so much for us in this world that we should be nothing but happy! Yes, life is hard and school is hard and society is disappointing and blah blah blah, but hey, you're alive and have a body that provides you limitless opportunities! That is enough to get you started on the realization that life is good.

With the seven weeks we have left, I am going to challenge my ward family to unify even more and make these next seven weeks the best they can be! It would be so great if we all joined together and made the conscious choice to befriend one another and just make life a party.

Go out, have fun, enjoy life. That is part of the reason you are here on this earth - to be happy. Heavenly Father wants you to be happy. So just do it.
