Airports.

Getting home in a nutshell:
Wake up before the sun.
Meet your aunt's old Mia Maid while waiting in line for security at the airport. Small Mormon world.
Wait in a false line (with other BYU students, sadly -I thought we were supposed to be smart?) to get on your first flight. In my defense, I was the first one to realize we were waiting in a non existent line. The others followed.
Fall asleep awkwardly (mouth open and pointing upwards, of course) on the plane.
Get motion sickness from reading Hunger Games too long and intensely.
Literally sprint to your connecting flight. Be sure to have your pants falling down as you run and your bag dragging embarrassingly behind you. Oh well, it's Minneapolis - you will never see these people again.
Shove your over sized carry on into the far too small overhead bins.
Plop down into your seat while openly praying and thanking God for helping you make it to this very seat.
Sit next to the loudest person on the planet who insists on showing you all her pictures of Alaska. Which, I admit, was very lovely.
Find out that she is a new convert as of a year and eight months ago. Feel happiness. Talk about the incredible atmosphere of BYU. Encourage her to transfer.
Read the Hunger Games.
Look outside window, recognize the trees, and realize that you are 20 minutes from being home for the first time in four months.
Run off plane. Breathe real oxygen again. None of that mountain air business.
Meet family at baggage claim.
Hug.
Collect bags.
See your puppy!
Almost die because your puppy runs under your dad's break peddle while he is driving on the free way.
Walk into your house and appreciate every little thing.
Know that your parents lowered your bed. Oh wait, it just appears lower because back at school your bed is literally four feet high.
Look at Christmas tree filled with Christmas presents.
Drink mom's hot apple cider.
Go to your favorite down town pizza place.
Be happy falling asleep in your own warm bed surrounded by the people you love most.

Reunited and it feels so good.

Xoxo
