11/28-12/4
Dear family and friends,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THE DECEMBER BIRTHDAYS! Hope it is the best. :)
I cannot believe I am on my third week here at the CTM! Almost half way done. Each day is such a fun adventure and I love every minute. It is hard and there are days where I can't handle much more Portuguese, but I feel your prayers and well wishes pushing me forward. Thank you!
The language is coming along great! We taught ten lessons this week and our "investigators" committed to baptism! Yay, batismo! It is so hard not being able to communicate exactly what I want to say but I feel the Holy Ghost helping me to remember words and to express my feelings. It is such a wonderful moment when we get to teach together as a companionship and feel the Spirit SO strongly. I can't wait to get out there and do it for real!
My new companion is WONDERFUL! I love her so much; we are very similar and just laugh each day at the funny things that happen between the language barrier with the Brazilians to the dumb stuff the Elders do each day. She has been such a blessing.
Each day we wake up at 6:30, have breakfast, personal study, companion study, physical activity, and then more studying and language lessons. We teach our lessons every night and then have devotional on Tuesdays and Sundays. Each day is JAM packed but I love it. I am so exhausted but feel so happy - how is that possible?! My exhausting proves to me that I have been working hard.
A highlight of this week was the small Thanksgiving the CTM cafeteria put on for us - never have I ever been so happy to see Turkey and stuffing in my life!!! We also got to walk around Sao Paulo a little bit last week which was so cool! I love the Brazilian people so much. They are the most friendly and kind people ever! We have Brasilinera roommates and we just talk all the time as companionships.
This past Sunday, I was feeling a little down as I struggled with the language but then I felt so uplifted by the devotional we had. It was all about how we are meant to be here and that God is aware of us and knows us personally. "The most important being in the universe, knows you and loves you infinitely." That is pretty amazing! Even when I struggle, I feel God's love and awareness of me! He is always there beside me, guiding me and supporting me. I know that my efforts to learn the language and improve in teaching is not just for me - it is for the families that I will teach and help bring unto Christ. Ahh, I just love it. I love everything about my mission and know for certain that I am meant to be here. I am so blessed to be here and to serve the beautiful people of Brasil!
Portuguese is MUITO BONITO! I love it! I can't believe more people don't speak it! I could listen to it all day! Well, I guess I do. :)
I have to run, but I love you all and wish you the best! I am happy and doing so well! Thank you for the thoughts and prayers! This Gospel is true and provides me so much happiness! I want to world to know!!!
Much love always,
Sister Serre
