Sister Serre's first email!

(FROM THE BRAZIL MTC) 11/20-27

Oi amigas e familia!

Estou em o CTM de Brasil! Sou uma misionara para La Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Ultimos Dias. I LOVE it here!

We do not have much time to write but I just wanted to let you all knowt that I am alive and well in Brazil. It is so beautiful and such an adventure. Each day is extremely hard but so worth it. I have already taught SIX lessons in Portuguese - yes, SIX doctrinal lessons in Portuguese! We jump right in.

Each day I feel my Savior's love for me and everyone else. This love is what drives me as a missionary. I want others to feel this happiness and goodness and to know that God loves them personally.

I feel so blessed to be here. I am the only American girl who made it down to the CTM with my visa. As I look at the window and see the beautiful city of Sao Paulo, I am overcome with appreciation for the wonderous opportunity to be a missionary and to learn in such a beautiful place. We are surrounded by Brazilians and South Americans and they LOVE Americans! Often, I find them looking at me just waiting for me to say, "Oi!" and when I do, they are so happy! My companion is great, the district I study and do everything with is awesome, and I am so happy!

The building we are in is very Americanized but we eat Brazilian food. For my first Brazilian meal, I had cinammon banana pizza (SISTER STEPHANIE SMITH!!! I thought of you. :) ) The food is good, but lots of meat. At least two meats per meal. I usually don't eat all of it. The building is like any other and most things are the same. Going out into the city is a lot of fun and we are always protected. I am excited to get out there and teach!

It is beautiful here and I am loving it! I am happy, healthy, and so grateful.

Sorry I do not have more time, but I just wanted to give you a short update!!!

I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

Much love,
Sister Serre

(Seeester Say-hey in Portuguese, :) )

Sorry for spelling mistakes - weird keyboard and no time.
