I am on fire down here in sunny Brasil! Literally, on fire. It has been 100+ degrees everyday this week. Thank goodness I am friends with a dermatologist who loaded me with the good sunscreen! ;) I put sunscreen on every two hours and still have a beautiful, missionary tan.
You haven't lived until you've climbed a tree for your own Manga and Banana. Paradise!
Also, this week I ate Piranha and Sea Snake. In the moment, it was not too bad but I gagged later that night thinking about it, haha. I will send pictures next week of the piranha! Talk about TEETH. My companion says they live in the waters where she lives - scary, scary, scary. The sea snake tasted better than the Piranha. Hopefully that is about as weird as the food gets here.
We saw a Capivara this week hanging out near a lake we walk past. So much diversity down here!
Something odd that occured this week: We were with a member and she told us we were going to visit her friend. We arrive to this open air community building where people are just hanging out and we walk in and BAM dead people. Really surprising. I was a little taken back. Oh, the mission. I feel like I never really know what is going on....ever.
Carnaval has started! Which means more parties every night until March. Drums in the streets, concerts, more drunk men wandering around - Brasil! I can't wait until it's actually Carnaval and then O Copo!!! The World Cup is already the buzz and we still have four months. Such a great time to be in Brasil.
Everyday someone tells me I speak great "Brasilian" and it always makes me laugh. Just in case you were wondering, it's Portuguese. You learn something new everyday. :)
I got mail this week! Thanks for all those who sent me letters! It was so great to hear from you all and I am hoping thattomorrow when we head into Piracicaba that I get my Christmas packages! Fingers crossed.
The work is progressing here - we have some AWESOME investigators and this week we are going to extend the baptism invitation. I am so excited for these families. They are so happy when we teach them and always say they feel "something different" or "something good" when they talk to us. They love coming to church and we love seeing them there. The members are reaching out to them and the branch is growing closer together. This is the Lord's work! I love being here and teaching the Brasilian people.
Thank you for all your love and support! Pray for these people and that I don't fry down here. I pray for each of you everyday and pray that you all are doing well! Have a boa semana!
Tchau! Eu amo vocĂȘs!!!
