Hello everyone!
So, since I have been in Americana, everything that could go wrong with our house has been going wrong. My first couple nights and days, we were without electricity. Then, for the past week, they have been cutting our water off! At first I thought it was because we hadn't paid the water bill - so I ran and paid the bill and the water came back on later that night. But the next day it happened again! So we talked to some members and they explained that because of the drought that Brasil is having, the city is cutting off the water and expecting people to use their own supply. Not a problem for most people because their houses have a personal supply - but our house does not have a personal supply. So from 10 AM to 9 PM, our house doesn't have water. Thankfully we are usually gone after 12 until 9 at night and eat at members' homes, but still, it is a pain! Just a reminder...I still have a very limited "other than Gospel topic" vocabulary...it has been an adventure to deal with all of this in a foreign country! :)
Also, we do not have credits on our phone which means we can't call people. Luckily we get more tomorrow but this whole week has been one big "What next could go wrong?" Haha. We show up to members' homes hoping that they remembered we have lunch at their house...usually works. :)
Americana has been spraying the streets for Dengue! There is an epidemic of Dengue going around here and so the government is spraying the streets. I have been SO lucky to have been in the streets both times they sprayed! What joy! (Sarcasm.) I think I now have enough repellent on me to keep bugs away for years.
Because of all our poor luck in material things, we have been majorly blessed in spiritual things! This week we found some really great new investigators and I am so excited to work with them! One is a young man who actually contacted us. He is looking for a new church because he recently survived a bad accident and is wondering why his life was saved and what his purpose is in this life - GOLDEN!!! So excited to serve with him. The ward here is really stepping up with their missionary work and we are putting some new ideas in progress. I am ready to see where all this will go!
Also, this week, we had Multi-Zone conference! It was so fun to see some of my friends and listen to different talks given by my Mission President. I learned so much, especially about Our Savior's Atonement, and left feeling ready to conquer the world! It was definitely a high light to my week.
We have been making more than 200 contacts per week! Our goal. :) I love making street contacts.
I hope that everyone is preparing for Easter this weekend! What a wonderful time to think about the huge sacrifice that our Savior and Older Brother gave for us. I know that The Atonement of Jesus Christ is not only for our sins, but also our sadness and disappointments. As Jesus suffered in the Garden, He saw our faces and felt our pains. He knows exactly what we have gone through and are going through. When you feel sad or lonely, rely on Him. He loves you more than you can ever know. I know He died for us but that He lives! And through His Atonement, we can conquer death and live with God and our families for ever! I hope you all have time to ponder about the importance of Jesus Christ in your life this week as you eat some Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs (send some to me....).
Love you all! This week I will hit 5 months! Have a good one!
