Let your faith SHINE!

Hi, everyone!

I hope everyone loved General Conference as much as I did! What a wonderful opportunity to hear from our Prophet and apostles! I loved the messages they shared and am excited to put them all into practice.

One quote I especially loved was "Let your faith shine!" I know that as we have faith and trust in God's plan, we will have a certain light about us because we will have true happiness! I love striving to be the type of person that people can look at me and see Christ's light shining through. Especially as a missionary, I have seen this light in other people and continue to strive to have this light with me as well.

This week was pretty great because we had so many fun things going on. Besides the day to day work, we had Sister Trainers come and do a division with us, our Zone Leaders came and helped us with our investigators, and I got to spend the weekend with some of my best friends from the mission! It was so fun to just have a weekend in English. :) We all watched General Conference in English at the stake center and then ate AcaƬ Berry and laughed at all the crazy stuff that happens to us because of the language barrier. It was a much deserved break that I had been needing because of the stress of a new area and training!

I had been looking forward to the spiritual feast of General Conference for a couple weeks and then I found out I could go spend the weekend with my friends - it was such a blessing! I had a Scottish companion for the weekend - imagine the accents! :) She also gave me a bunch of her cute, cute clothes. It felt like a weekend of non-stop Christmas! I left feeling spiritually and emotionally uplifted. I love conference weekend!

Being a missionary gave me a different mindset as I watched General Conference. I was not only watching as a way to better myself and learn more, but I was also watching for my investigators. I would hear a talk or phrase and think of how it could help my investigators. We have some good investigators that are ready for baptism but just lack going to church. It is so hard to get people to go to church here! I don't know what it is. I am in the process of looking for new investigators as well. Pray for me that I will be able to find those who are searching for the truth!

This week we have multi-zone conference which I am really looking forward to hearing from my mission president. Last week, they raised our numbers which means we have A LOT more work to do! They set a standard of THIRTY lessons per week with a member and at least TWO HUNDRED contacts. All the other numbers were raised too but I think these two are the most shocking. I was happy getting six lessons a week with members (and that is pretty high...). GO HELP THE MISSIONARIES! You have no idea how much we need the members' help. Missionary work is not just for missionaries - it is for everyone! Share God's love! Give references, go out with the missionaries, do all you can to spread this great message! I am nervous for these new numbers but also SO excited for the desire to work harder and more effectively. This is a trial of our faith because The Lord knows we can do hard things - we just have to get going on it. :)

I pray for each of you and hope that you all are doing well. God is aware of you and always with you - even when you feel abadoned. We never walk alone!

Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes, and emails! Keep being great.

Love always,
Sister Serre
