NOVE!

Olá pessoal!

This week was up and down in every way - including the weather!

Tuesday was BURNING hot and then Thursday was FREEZING! I had to wear gloves in the street it was so cold. I felt like a wimp using gloves in Brasil but my hands could not take it anymore!

Saturday night we had an activity with our ward - Rei do Bolo! (Cake King). Each member had to make a cake but the competition was not about who made the best cake but who could do the best propaganda. The Sisters were the judges - it was so hard to pick a winner! I was worried that the losers would be mad...haha. I was in charge of the decorations and it turned out way cute! Brasil activities never start on time...the members always show up about an hour or two late...culture differences!

When I first got to Brasil, I was really surprised to find out that they do not use one cents here. Everything is rounded up or down according to five. They have Brasilian pennies but don't use them...and this week I found out why! They are TINY! One of our investigators gave me a Brasilian penny and it is the smallest coin I have ever seen. Next week I will send a picture! It took me 9 months but I finally found a Brasilian penny! :)

A glass door fell on me this week. That was fun. I was just sitting on the couch after lunch at a member´s house and their door fell on me. It was a huge blessing because the sharp part of the door almost cut my face! I was worried that my shoulder would really hurt the next day but there wasn't even a bruise! The strange things that happen on the mission...

Wednesday I will hit 9 MONTHS ON THE MISSION!!!! Half-way point! So hard to believe!!! I feel like the time is zooming by!!! Cannot wait to see what the next 9 months will bring!

We are teaching two women that are very different - one of them has SO much faith and the other has NONE! We taught the woman with no faith and I left her house feeling so sad and empty. But, later that day, we taught the woman with a lot of faith and I left her house feeling so happy and full of joy! Faith really is contagious. Faith leads us to have hope, joy, etc. I hope that each of you strive to have more faith and lead others to be happy!

Sorry if this email is all over the place! It is really hard to listen to Portuguese and write in English! Today we are having a zone activity and all the Brasilians are talking to me...I think I have written more in Portugese than in English!

I love you all! Have a great week! I am off to eat churrasco...yum! All the Brasilians send hugs! Abraços e beijos!
Sister Serre
