Bom dia, genteee!
Ornitorrinco means "platypus" by the way. I am trying to expand my Portuguese vocabulary. :) The other day I was talking to my companion and she asked if I had ever seen "Phineas and Ferb." But she said it with a really, really thick accent that I had no idea what she was saying. So she described it and talked about Perry the Platypus - which lead to me learning "ornitorrinco". It's a funny word and even better with the Brasilian accent. I love the emotion that Brasilians put into their words and tones!
This past week was really cool because we are doing a program called "Power Training." It's basically a marathon for your spirit as you are super obedient and focused. It has been really inspiring to see the difference it has made in all of us as missionaries. I have had some really spiritual moments this past week which has given me the spiritual push I have been needing!
Yesterday, I was a little sad because none of our investigators went to church. I sat during Sacrament meeting thinking, "What am I doing wrong? Why am I not seeing the success of my hard work?" I felt really down, but as I said a prayer, I felt as if The Savior Himself was at my side helping me to feel better and look to the future with faith. The phrase, "The future is as bright as your FAITH." popped into my head and suddenly I felt a new desire to work harder and do all I can to keep going.
We also have seen some pretty cool miracles happen because of our obedience and hard work with the power training. One day, we sat down in the park to do our weekly planning, and a man walked past us. I noticed that he was staring at us and stopped nearby to grab his Bible. I was a little nervous thinking that he was crazy and wanting to Bible Bash as he started to approach us. He walked up to us and asked for us to teach him! It was so cool! I had been praying, asking for help to find new investigators, and suddenly Pedro appeared! He said that he walked past us and felt something saying, "You need to talk to them." We taught him a little and marked another day to go to his house. I know it's because of our obedience that The Spirit was able to talk to him and testify of our message from so far away. Really inspiring.
Yesterday, we had a Family Home Evening with some less actives that are returing to church. They asked me to make Maple Syrup and cookies while they made pancakes. Let's just say that my Maple Syrup was AWESOME! So delicious. They kept burning the pancakes so they decided to make a cake with the batter...it was pretty delicious with the Maple Syrup frosting. They all loved it. :) Brasil is always just a little different...even with pancakes and maple syrup!
As we were returning home, it was getting close to curfew so we decided to run. Imagine 4 missionaries running in the street in skirts! It was SO funny. My stomach started to hurt I was laughing so hard! The Brasilians didn't make it long and kept shouting, "NOOO! Please don't run! I can't take it anymore!" I would start to run, and then they would run screaming. So I would stop and then they all would stop. SOOO funny. One man almost fell off of his motorcycle when he saw us all running. The adventures of the missão!
Other than that, Brasil is just getting hot again! The 4 days of "winter" was good while it lasted.
SEND ME LETTERS! Seriously people. I want some letters. I promise to reply. :)
Love you all! Thanks for your support and prayers. Espero que vocês tenham uma boa semana!
