Americana in Americana!
Hello, everyone!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM ON WEDNESDAY THE 2ND!!!! Sure do miss and love her!!!
Well, saying goodbye to Cordeirópolis was a little sad but I quickly got over that because I LOVE MY NEW AREA! Americana is an awesome city with awesome members. We live right near the center of the city so there is always something exciting going on. We live in a house located behind a member's house and is pretty big. They are going to put another set of Sisters in our house next transfer which should be fun!
Americana is bigger than Cordeirópolis which was intimidating at first because our area is HUGE! But now I like it because there are so many people to talk to and so many new oportunities! It takes about an hour to walk to some of our appointments because our area is so big - and we only cover 1/3 of the city. It is so nice to live close to the chapel and city center.
My companion is wonderful! Sister Velazco is Peruvian (from the capital, Lima) and a little energizer bunny! She wakes up every morning so happy and stays incredibly positive throughout the day. She always has something sweet to say and finds the best in everything. She is an answer to my prayers! She has such love for this work and has given me the extra push I need after my last transfer! We are working hard and finding new ways to help this ward here in Americana. I am excited to train and serve with Sister Velazco this transfer!
I was really nervous about training and being in a new city and The Lord really tested me to prove that I can do hard things - my first night and day here we were without power. What a struggle to try to talk in Portuguese and figure out what was going on! I was taking a shower when all the sudden the power dropped. I have never been so cold in my life. The water was freezing!!! Thankfully some mebers from a city near by came over and helped us to get the wires correct again. It was a day of trials but in the end it all worked out and I realized that I can do hard things!
Saturday I did a "split" in Piracicaba which was fun to be in that city for a while. Other than that, we are just working hard and getting used to this city! I got a Christmas package this week three months exactly after Christmas - another testament that Christmas never has to end! :)
I hope you all are doing well and preparing to listen to the Prophet this weekend as we have General Conference! I am so excited to hear the words of a prophet's voice as I know Thomas S. Monson is the living prophet of God. I invite you all to tune in and listen!!! I know you won't regret it.
Love you all! Let me know how I can help!
