Feliz Dia das Maes!

Happy Mothers' Day to all those moms out there! I hope it was a great day and that your kids (and husbands...) spoiled you rotten!

It was another good week here in Carioba! We are working hard, being very obedient, and receiving the blessings of our diligence! Don't want to jinx myself, so I won't say too much, but the work is moving forward here! This area is a lot easier in comparison to my other two areas and I am loving it. :)

This week our mission president changed our hours of work - everyone has to be out of the house by 10 AM. This is the normal hours for missionaries not training or learning a language, but for me, who is training someone and trying to study Portuguese, we usually left the house at 11:30 AM right before lunch. At first, I was a little worried about the new hours because I didn't know how I was going to do Sister Tavares' training. But I decided to not complain and just go for it and be obedient. It has been awesome! So many people prefer lessons in the morning and we are finding elites who only can hear our message before lunch! Truly seeing the blessings of "going and doing the things The Lord has commanded." I prefer being a Nephi and not a Laman. ;)

Last night I got to Skype my family! It was amazing! Such a blessing to have technology that allows me to see and hear my family. I only cried a little. :) All the Brasilians with me were infatuated with English and my family. They just stared at them and would say, "How beautiful! They look like dolls! What a pretty family!" It was pretty funny how much they loved it. I loved being able to talk to my family and hear about all that is going on. The time passed too fast and I felt like we only talked a little. The happiness I felt last night will be my source of energy and perserverance until Christmas when we Skype again!

Speaking English made me realize just how much I am losing my English. It felt awkward speaking English! I need to practice my English now...

Next week, I hit 6 months in the field! Hard to believe I am almost a third part of the way done with my mission!

Other than that, it was just another week of hard work and strange encounters with random Brasilians. One Brasilian man told us this week that his girlfriend left him and the last thing she said was, "Tchau, tchau pipoca!" Which translates to "Bye, bye Popcorn!" Yeah...that is Brasil for you. It has kind of turned into an inside joke in our house.

I hope you all are doing well! I hope this email finds you happy and healthy! I love you all and feel so blessed to be here as a missionary! Everyday I see The Hand of the Lord working in my life.

Tchau tchau, Pipoca!
