Today marks 6 months since I left the US soil and my world behind! Hard to believe that tomorrow will be 6 months as an official missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My faded name tag proves it! What a journey it has been and will continue to be! Each day I am so thankful for the opportunity I have to be serving my Savior here in Brasil with such wonderful people.
This week we had interviews with Presidente Canuto! I love my mission president - he is so great and always knows exactly what to say! I learned a lot with him during my interview and left feeling uplifted and more devoted to this work! He shared a scripture with me that was EXACTLY what I needed to hear. Matthew 16: 24-25. It talks about taking up the cross of the Savior and giving all you have to Him. There are days when I am just exhausted and all I can think about is one year from now and being home - but these are the moments when I need to push myself and work even harder! Being a missionary means you devote ALL you have to The Lord - even when you are exhausted or think you can't talk to anymore people on the street. As we take on the cross and remember our purpose, The Lord will push us along. He is always at our side and wants us to succeed! I hadn't even expressed this with Presidente Canuto but he knew exactly what I needed. It was great. He acknowledged my work and it was awesome to hear how grateful he is for all that I am doing.
We also had our Zone P-Day this week which meant all the missionaries of my zone hung out and goofed off for P-Day. A Chilean Elder made tacos for us all and I got to laugh about Durham Stake stories with Sister Kimbrell. It was a good day! Presidente Canuto also ate tacos with us. :)
Yesterday, we were talking to a man in the street, when all the sudden TONS of police cars surrounded his house! It was pretty alarming. Supposedly, there was a fight at a nearby bar and a man stabbed someone then escaped into the house where were. Luckily, we were in front of the house in the street and nothing happened but it was still scary! The Lord truly protects us!
This week, I found about 10 Reis in the street. That was cool!
Other than that, the work continues! I love you all! Hope you have an AWESOME week!
Love,
